Manufacturing Lead Machine Operator Overview:
The Lead Machine Operator is responsible for leading daily production activities while operating and maintaining manufacturing machinery. This role combines hands-on machine operation with team leadership, training, and coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The Lead Machine Operator serves as a point of contact for the shift, supports continuous improvement, and helps ensure company standards and production goals are met.
Manufacturing Lead Machine Operator Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee machine operation activities for assigned production lines or areas.
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot machines according to specifications and instructions.
Monitor production output to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are consistently met.
Make machine adjustments and guide operators to maintain optimal performance.
Identify, address, and report equipment issues, defects, and production concerns.
Provide guidance, coaching, and hands-on training to machine operators and new hires.
Serve as a resource for problem-solving and technical support during the shift.
Maintain accurate production and shift-related records.
Ensure team compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Assist with bi-annual plant inventories.
Communicate production status, issues, and improvements to supervisors or management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Manufacturing Lead Machine Operator Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of machine operation, setup, and basic maintenance procedures.
Prior experience in a lead, senior operator, or team leadership role preferred.
Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to lead by example.
Forklift experience preferred.
Physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials.
